Lotus house
Modern Living, Rooted in traditional beliefs
Designed by *Imprints Architects, this residential interior brings together contemporary aesthetics, personal beliefs and thoughtful functionality. The home was envisioned with a clean, minimalistic character, while incorporating elements derived from **Goddess Lakshmi, the **lotus*which creates a common language throughout the residence.
Rather than treating the lotus as a decorative addition, it was subtly integrated into the designing of the home. The motif appears across different spaces and surfaces, including the entrance door, partition details, mandir, ceiling features and bedroom door faces. Highlighting the element in different scales and applications creates a visual connection between spaces while giving the home an identity that is deeply personal to its occupants. The mandir becomes a natural focal point of this narrative, combining the spiritual character of the home with its contemporary design language.
The children’s bedroom follows a different, more playful story. As the child was transitioning from sharing a room with her parents to having a space of her own, the intention was to create a room she could immediately connect with and enjoy spending time in. Instead of relying on an obvious all-pink theme, the design introduces a *solar-system-inspired feature wall*, adding imagination, curiosity and an interactive quality to the room while allowing the soft colour palette to remain balanced.
The study area takes inspiration from a *dollhouse*, with its distinctive A-shaped roof form translated into the cabinetry and shelving. This familiar, playful geometry gives the study corner its own identity and makes everyday activities such as reading, learning and creating feel more enjoyable for the child.
Decorative elements were carefully selected rather than excessively layered, allowing the meaningful details to stand out while maintaining a sense of minimalism and visual calm. The result is a *modern, minimal home shaped around the personalities, beliefs and everyday experiences of the family*—where symbolism becomes part of the interiors design and playful ideas make personal spaces feel truly their own.
