The concept of old age home is associated with a social situation. The old parents are concerned with their acceptance and respect while they move into a new institution different then their homes.

We used the metaphor of a old banyan tree which is old but strong and provides different shade then the usual trees. Its well rooted and its strength increases with age.

The building has levels and columns which are the strength of the buildings and they are like roots of the tree. The old people are the strength in the society due to their experience. This feeling is expressed through the form of the building. The functions are arranged around the central core in such a way that the centre is a solid shaft like a tree trunk.
