Saugato's House

Rooted in the cultural richness of Calcutta, this residence reinterprets Bengali heritage through a contemporary lens. Dark timber, exposed ceiling beams, traditional artwork, brass accents, botanical elements, and patterned textiles come together to create a home that feels warm, elegant, and deeply personal.

A particularly meaningful detail is found in the  Master bedroom, where the client’s mother’s actual saree has been carefully preserved and framed behind glass as a feature artwork above the bed. More than a decorative element, it brings a personal memory and a piece of family heritage into the architecture, reinforcing the emotional connection at the heart of the design.

Soft ivory tones and muted greens balance the richness of wood, while layered warm lighting and greenery bring freshness throughout. The result is a home that is culturally rooted yet contemporary—a celebration of Calcutta expressed through art, materiality, craftsmanship, memories, and family heritage.
